The two numbers that matter

Every delivery offer can be judged with two simple numbers. Dollars per mile protects your car and your gas money. Dollars per hour protects your time. An offer can look great on one and terrible on the other: a $4 order that is half a mile away pays well per mile but may still pay poorly per hour if the restaurant is slow.

Don't forget the miles back

If an order takes you out to the edge of town, you will probably drive back to a busy area without getting paid. Put those miles in the "unpaid miles back" box. A $12 offer that sends you 9 miles out with 8 miles home is really paying for 17 miles of driving.

Setting your own minimums

Many drivers use $1 per mile and $20 per hour as a starting rule, then adjust for their market. If your car is expensive to run, raise your per-mile minimum. Find your real cost per mile with the car cost per mile calculator. If your area is slow, you may accept a lower hourly target during quiet times and be pickier during the dinner rush.

Why a quick check pays off

Most apps give you only seconds to decide. Drivers who decline the worst offers consistently tend to earn more per hour than drivers who accept everything, because low offers eat up time that could go to better ones. Use this page a few times and you'll start to recognize good and bad offers at a glance.
